In the City Career Programmes for Economics or Finance

Gabbitas Education is delighted to welcome you to ‘In the City’, an interactive programme supported by senior professionals from leading companies in and around the Bank of England and the Square Mile.

Our unique In the City course will enable you to:

  • Acquire knowledge from key companies and their staff

  • Experience office life first-hand with site tours and presentations
  • Network amongst influential decision makers
  • Reinforce your career choices

  • Enhance your CV and personal statement.

Our Careers Advisers will accompany you throughout the programme and will be on hand to provide assistance and answer your questions.

Who is the Economics Programme for?

The Economics Programme is designed for students interested in a career in Statistics, Forensic Accounting, Stockbroking and Risk Analysis.

What does the Economics Programme offer?

In the past it included:

  1. A visit to the London School of Economics (LSE), the world’s leading dedicated social science institution. Students were able to see the campus and gain an insight into the LSE student experience.
  2. A visit to the premises of The Chartered Insurance Institute, the world’s largest body dedicated to insurance and financial services. Students would play the ‘Discover Fortunes’ game and learn what it is like to be a wealth manager working in the City.
  3. A presentation by a speaker from The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the UK’s only chartered professional body dedicated to educating, developing and regulating actuaries based both in the UK and internationally.
  4. An interactive activity delivered by a leading consultant with expertise in linking education with business.
  5. An overview of the best ways to market yourself, including how to develop an effective personal statement and a meaningful CV.

Who is the Finance Programme for?

The Finance Programme is designed for students interested in a career in Banking, Insurance, Business and Accountancy.

What does the Finance Programme offer?

In the past, it included:

  1. A visit to Buzzacott Accountants, one of the top 50 accounting firms with 30 partners and 300 staff in their London office. Students would meet with members of the team who talked about employment opportunities at Buzzacott and the different routes into Accountancy.
  2. A presentation by BPP University, the UK’s only university solely dedicated to business and the professions. Students were given an overview of the sector and the university courses available.
  3. An introduction to Lloyds of London, the world’s leading insurance market. Students were given an insight into the specialist insurance services provided to businesses in over 200 countries and territories.
  4. An introduction to the world of Trading by a leading consultant with expertise in linking education with business. Students took part in a trading game enabling them to gain skills in investment, saving, communication, co-operation and decision making.
  5. A visit to the premises of The Chartered Insurance Institute, the world’s largest body dedicated to insurance and financial services. Students would play the ‘Discover Risk’ game and learn what it is like to be a financial planner working in the City.
  6. An overview of the best ways to market yourself, including how to develop an effective personal statement and a meaningful CV.
